Should you decorate your house if it is for sale during the holiday season?
Let me keep this short and sweet. Yes, you can still decorate your home, but keep the decorations tasteful and to a minimum when selling your house during any holiday.
Decorations take up space and you want your home to appear spacious, so a few items are okay – just choose what to display wisely.
For example, if you celebrate Christmas consider choosing a small tree if your house is on the market. Forego the elf, Santa, and snowman knick-knack displays and perhaps opt for a large poinsettia or two for color – and it’s probably best to leave the blow up Frosty in the attic rather than showing him off on the front yard – at least until the house is under contract. Exterior lights on a few bushes in the front yard is fine, but I suggest not putting Santa and his reindeer on the roof this year.
Just think, if your house sells this year you can really go all out and decorate your new house next year!
Wishing you sunshine everyday and the home of your dreams,
Jeri
